(From Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home)Garry Wayne Adams was born on August 14, 1939, to Henry R. Adams and Reva Oakley Adams in Carthage, MO. He departed this life peacefully on November 19,2024 in Springfield, MO.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janice Dyer Adams. Also surviving are two children: Kent Adams (Lacie) of Lee Summit, MO, and Brenda Kaiser (Randee) of Carthage, MO.; five grandchildren: Amanda Mankin (Ryan), Zach Goodwin, Kassi Richmond (Charles), Shaye Lindgren (Zach), Kenley Terry (Johnny), and 9 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind brother and sisters-in-law and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Garry and his family lived in Kansas City, MO. before moving to Springfield in 1968 where he began a career spanning over 50 years in the insurance field, representing Farmers Insurance Group for 14 years, and then Mass Mutual and other companies for the rest of his career.
He loved people and was honored to be President of United Cerebral Palsy of Springfield, lead a Boy Scout Troup for the handicapped, and be President of Drury Boosters Club. He was a long-time blood donor and delivered meals to the elderly for over a decade through Southside Center. He was a member of Glendale Christian Church and served in many positions including youth leader, small group leader, Women of Worth (a ministry to widows), and as a deacon and elder. But he most loved his family and following their lives as his children and grandchildren grew to be fine adults.
Visitation will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Monday, November 25. 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will be at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Fasken Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
