(From Nilson-Millard Creation and Burial Center)James “Jim” Henry Myers, 84, of Columbia passed away on November 24, 2024. Jim was born on October 13, 1940, in Neosho, MO, to Knowles and Luella (Beaver) Myers. Jim grew up in Neosho and graduated from Neosho High School in 1958. He then joined the United States Navy where he served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1963. On May 21, 1971, he was united in marriage to Cindy Forbis and she survives at their home.
Jim worked at IBM for 31 years where ended up being granted “early retirement” by the company when they went through a restructuring. He then took a position as the IT Manager for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources where he would remain until his retirement in 2010.
In his early years Jim and his wife Cindy both served as youth leaders at Community of Christ Church in Columbia. He also served as the Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 68. Jim was a black powder enthusiast and enjoyed attending black powder rifle matches with Cindy throughout the years.
When he was not busy volunteering with kids or taking part in a black power match Jim could often times be found spending time outdoors and particularly enjoyed working with his cattle.
In addition to his wife Cindy, Jim is survived by one daughter Juni Myers (Darren Harvey), one son Josh Myers, and three grandsons Hawk Myers-Harrison, Flint Myers-Harrison and Luke Myers-Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
