(From Clark Funeral Home)James Garland Anderson was born December 2, 1939, in Martin, TN, to Garland Kelly and Nelle (Todd) Anderson. Jim married the love of his life, Darlene (Cook) Anderson at Gary, IN, on May 22, 1960.
He served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Linguist/Interpreter in Hungarian, Albanian, and Arabic, and also as an Intelligence Analyst.
After retirement he taught school and was a Bible College administrator until an injury returned him to Government service as a Civilian Intelligence Analyst at Fort Leavenworth, KS, Threats Directorate, and then at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Office of Intelligence and Security. He retired in September 2001 with 35 years combined service.
His education included AAS, BS(Ed), MBA/Bus Mgmt, MA/Sees (Soviet/East European Studies) and PHD (International Studies). Jim has authored many professional documents, was a poet, and song writer, a life member of TREA (The Retired Enlisted Association) and the American Legion. He was a faithful member of Sweetwater Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, teacher, and librarian. After Darlene’s passing, he moved to Shell Knob and joined Golden Baptist Church. Both Jim and Darlene were long-time members of the Gideons International where they served in local, regional, and state offices in Missouri and Utah.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, his parents, and three sisters and their spouses: Virginia and John Wilbanks of Lansing, MI; Marie ad William (Pete) Allison, of San Angelo, TX; and Mary Sue and Bryan Roy, Jr, of Thayer, MO.
SURVIVORS
Four Children: Kathleen D. Anderson of Webb City; Linda K. (Bill) Uselmann of Bartlesville; William Kelly (Carmen) Anderson of Shell Knob; and Ann R. (Thor) Anderson of Frisco, Texas.
Eight Grandchildren: Aimee Weaver, James (Abi) Tikunoff, Robyn Tikunoff, Julia (Zeth) Hedges, Corynne and Harold Anderson, Carly and Kellen Anderson.
