Bobbie Lee Carpenter, age 90, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital.
Bob was born May 21, 1926 in Sarcoxie, Missouri, son of the late Elisha Carpenter and Lola Cunningham Carpenter. He graduated from Neosho High School, and then Joplin Junior College. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, and sang for years with the Watchman Quartet. He worked for Frank Evans Distributing until retiring in 1985.
He married Iwana June Barnes February 7, 1948 in Neosho, she preceded him in death on January 16, 2012. In addition to his wife, and parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Carpenter, and a brother, Jay Dee Carpenter.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Slaughter and husband Roy, and Diana Zaccarello all of Webb City; grandchildren, Michael Slaughter and wife Amber of Wylie, Texas, Ronnie Garrett and wife Valerie of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Casey Slaughter and Claire of Elko, Nevada; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Evelyn, Jackson, Payton, Nolan, Dayton, Chloe, and Riley.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with grandson Michael Slaughter officiating. Interment will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Children's Haven.
