Clarence Bowler

Clarence L. Bowler, age 89, Neosho, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

Clarence was born June 18, 1927 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, son of the late Ray and Ella Bowler. He was owner of C.L. Bowler, Inc. where he enjoyed working as a mason, construction contractor, plumber, HVAC installer and repairman for many years. He was responsible for ten subdivisions in Southwest Missouri, 70 Standard Oil service stations that he constructed in the Missouri and Kansas area. He was versed in all facets of construction, but his passion was masonry. He was proud of the hillside cross located in Big Spring Park which he constructed in 1961. He also restored his family's pre-civil war log cabin, which he then donated to the Newton County Historical Society, along with volunteering time and money to other projects in Neosho.

Clarence enjoyed hunting pheasant, fishing, and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

He married Helen N. Long on June 12, 1945, she preceded him in death on October 13, 2013. In addition to his parents and wife of 68 years, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chester, and two sisters, Fern and Eva.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Tichenor, a granddaughter, Tabitha Tichenor, both of Neosho; and his canine companions, Rainbo and Penny.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The family requests that donations be made to the Joplin Humane Society, either monetary or time.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
