Duane "Tootie" Lett

Duane ‘Tootie’ Lett, 71, Goodman, went to his Heavenly home on Sat., Jan. 4, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a several month illness.

 Duane was born Oct. 24, 1942 in Goodman, the son of Chalmer and Maxine (Harbeston) Lett and was a lifelong Goodman resident. Duane retired after 50 years in commercial sheet metal trade, belonging to Local no. 36 and worked for Springfield Engineering 28 years and a foreman for the Joplin crew, primarily working on the heating and air of St. John’s and Freeman Hospitals. He began his career in sheet metal at Hardy’s Sheet Metal in Joplin in 1962, following his graduation from Goodman High School. Tootie was a lifelong member of Goodman First Baptist Church and throughout his lifetime, spent much time doing volunteer projects for the church, always working behind the scenes. He had many friends and spent many years going quail hunting and fishing; camping and water skiing with his family and friends were his entertainment. He had many friends and enjoyed sharing God’s word with all.

 Tootie and Roxie (Wooldridge) were married on Sept. 1, 1962 at Goodman and she survives of the home. Also surviving are two children, Brad Lett and wife, Tracy of Neosho and Kristin Lett of Goodman; five grandchildren, Andy, Jacob and Hanna Lett and Kori and Cole Windsor; a brother, Gerald Eugene Lett and wife, Cuma, Goodman and sister in law, Patty Lett, Owasso, OK. He is preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Allison Lett and brother, Darrell Lett.
