Norman Drake

Norman E. Drake, 78, Neosho, died January 15, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following a sudden illness.

 Norman was born Sept. 11, 1935 in Goodman, MO and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Neosho High School where he was active in FFA. He was a crop and cattle farmer and had baled hay all across the Newton County area. Norman was a former school board member of Westview School; he had served as President of the Spring River Pulling Association, which raised funds for scholarships for high school seniors to attend Crowder College. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class.

 Norman and Margie Hoover were married on December 25, 1955 at Neosho and she survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Roger Drake, Neosho; Randy Drake and wife, Jenny Sue, Neosho and Dee Anne Allen and husband, Dave, Seneca; five grandchildren, Melissa Abercrombie, Rick Allen, Reeta Taylor, Elizabeth Drake and Alan Drake; four great grandchildren, Brianna, Morissalynn, and Jordan Allen and Ashlyn Taylor; two brothers, Max Drake and wife, Sandy, Neosho and Don Drake and wife, Beth, Seneca. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Reeta (Christerson) Drake; a sister, Reeta Marie Drake and a brother, Ernest Junior Drake.
