Rita Jean Swift Wood, 84, Neosho, died Jan. 8, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital, following an illness.
Rita was born Dec. 10, 1929 in Davenport, Iowa, the fth of 6 children. She graduated from Aurora High School and lived most of her life in Neosho. She had worked at Bank of Neosho; First National Bank and retired from Centerre Bank. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, classical music, bridge and volunteered with Meals and Wheels. She was a member of St. Canera Catholic Church.
Rita and George Jacob ‘Jack’ Wood were married on Dec. 28, 1954 at Neosho and he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2004. Rita is survived by three children, Geoffrey Wood, Neosho; Andrew ‘Andy’ Wood and wife, Kim, Neosho and Julia Narrell and husband, Scott, Joplin; six grandchildren, Adrian Wood, Tulsa; Carly Adams, Springfield; Victoria Wood, Fayetteville, AR; Elizabeth Wood, Neosho; Lucy Jean Narrell and Margaret Narrell and Mr. Kitty. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Patrick and Bernard Swift.
