Gary L. Prier age 80, Joplin, Mo. passed away Sunday January 19, 2014 following an illness.
He was born April 9, 1933 in Granby, Mo. to Floyd and Esther (Hobson) Prier.
Gary has been an area resident for over 30 years. He retired from the United States Air Force in May 1975, after serving in Germany, England, Turkey, and North America. He attended St. Peters Catholic Church and was a member of Joplin Elks #501, The Fraternal Order of Eagles #2410, and the American Legion.
He is survived by 2 sons: Gregory Prier, Honolulu, HI., Maxwell Prier, Anchorage, AK., 2 daughters; Cynthia Prier, Goose Creek, SC., Deborah Ashworth, Lacomb, LA., 2 sisters; Sandra Dean, Joplin, MO., Helen Chester, Joplin, MO., 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a sister in law, Shirley Prier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Prier and Esther (Prier) Haley and 4 brothers; Dennis, Norman, Larry and Nelson.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday January 27, 2014 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel with Fr. Justin Monaghan officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Seneca House in care of the mortuary.
