Bob Shryock

Harry Robert 'Bob' Shryock, age 73, Joplin, passed away at 7:33 a.m. Sunday, May 3, 2020 at his home after an illness.

Bob was born March 8, 1947 in Monett, Missouri to the late Harry A. Shryock and Pauline A. McKenna Shryock and lived in Joplin most of his life.

Bob attended McAuley High School for 2 years and graduated from Pierce City High School in 1965. He graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Accounting from Missouri Southern State College in 1969. This was the first graduating class from Missouri Southern State College.

He worked as a staff accountant for the firm of Myers, Scarbrough and Baker, CPA's for a short time before he enlisted with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1969-1973.








Following his service, Bob joined Vickers, Inc., where he served in various financial capacities over the next fourteen years. In 1988, he took over as controller for Gilmore Broadcasting Corporation, a position he held for many years. Bob retired in 2017 from the Workforce Investment Board in Joplin after serving since 2010 as the Fiscal Manager.

Bob was a lifelong dedicated member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Joplin. He enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his acreage, gardening, playing with his many dogs he had over the years, listening to music and visiting with family and friends. He loved his family and his dogs, Lucy and Ana. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.

Bob married Jeanne M. Prince, his wife of 51 years on February 8, 1969 in Joplin. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Terri Peters and husband Don, Oklahoma City, Lisa Stewart and husband Jason, Joplin; one son, Bob Shryock and wife Crystal, Joplin; one brother, Kenneth Shryock, Pierce City; two sisters, Mary Stark, Kansas City, Missouri, Jo Ann Gunter, Kaufman, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Kane, Kiley, Kaitlyn, Keira, Madison, Mallory, Courtney and Brittany.

Services are planned for Friday at Noon at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. J. Friedel will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Prince, John Prince, Mark Cooper, Mike Moore, Jim Malan, Luke Cramer and Tyler Stewart. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
