Mrs. Anna May Macklin, 89, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Neosho, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, while at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin, Missouri.
Anna entered this life on May 13, 1930, in Hays, Kansas, daughter of the late Earl Alvin and Naomi Faye (O'Neil) Canaday. Her formative years were spent in Kansas and Wyoming.
On January 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Martin Lee Macklin and to this union four children were born. They resided in Neosho, Missouri for several years. Anna believed in hard work. She was a seamstress, managed the family business, Macklin Feed Mill and was employed by the Neosho Wal-Mart. After Martin passed in 1980, Anna became the kitchen manager for various Christian Ministries, retiring on October 19, 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin on April 27, 1980; a granddaughter, Kristy Tate; and all four of her siblings, Kate, Jane, George and H.T.
Anna is survived by her four children, Jackie Arwood and husband, Ron, of Joplin, Kristy Leach and husband, Richard, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Paul Macklin and wife, Mary, of Texarkana, Arkansas and Sandy Dewald and husband, Bob, of Hollister, Missouri; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Macklin will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at I.O.O.F Cemetery in Neosho, Missouri, with Pastor Truman Brady officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
