John J. Dorsey was born September 29, 1930 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of John W. and Marjorie (Tolley) Dorsey. He entered into rest peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep on May 22, 2020 at the age of 89.
John served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He lived most of his life in the Joplin area and worked as a diesel mechanic at Kenworth for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and making furniture for his family. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and spoiled them with cookies and suckers.
John and Maxine (McIntire) were married on October 26, 1957 at Splitlog, Missouri and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2015.
He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Kastl and husband Randy of Joplin; two granddaughters, Laura Gullett and husband, Craig and Marissa Kastl, both of Joplin; fiver great grandchildren, Truman Gullett, Jamari Raford, Parker Gullett, Jayce Radford and Jacobi Radford; a brother in law, Wayne Ekstrom of Connorsville, Indiana and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his twin sister, Janeen Louise Baldwin and sister, Laura Ann Ekstrom.
