Jim Edmonds

Mr. Jim Edmonds, 84, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Saturday morning, May 9, 2020, while at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.

Jim entered this life on June 14, 1935, in Anderson, Missouri, son of the late Leonard and Mona (Roark) Edmonds. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson and was a 1954 graduate of Anderson, High School.

On December 24, 1961, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Woolard and to this union a son and daughter were born. After high school, Jim served four years in the United States Air Force. 

After his honorable discharge he enlisted in the US Army Missouri National Guard, retiring in 1995 after thirty-two years of service. Jim was longtime member of the Anderson United Methodist Church where he served as trustee for many years. He was a life member of the NRA, Anderson Masonic Lodge #621, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Valley of Joplin, Order of the Eastern Star, Ducks Unlimited and former Booster Club member.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Allen; a nephew, Bill Greenhaw; and a niece, Angela McCauley. 








Jim is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Marjorie Edmonds of the home; two children, Jeffrey Edmonds and wife, Tara, of Miami, Florida and Melissa Hughes and husband, Shane, of Anderson; four grandchildren, Cody Edmonds, Kaylee Edmonds, Kelsey Correa and husband, Roberto and Colby Hughes and wife, Michela; a great granddaughter, Quinn Mikay Edmonds; a sister, Susan Evans and husband, Jim, of Anderson; an aunt, Barbara Orler and husband, Joe, of Anderson; seven nieces; ten great nieces; eight great nephews; and many Roark cousins to numerous to mention.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Marilyn O’Brien and Nick VanDam officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Cody Edmonds, Kaylee Edmonds, Kelsey Correa, Roberto Correa, Colby Hughes and Michela Hughes. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Cunningham, Bill Roark, Dick Roark, Junior Pratt, Kenny Christerson, Lee Smith, United Methodist Men and the 203rd Army National Guard Retirees. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
