Ruth Lavern Treece of Carl Junction, MO passed from this life Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. She was 79.
Lavern was born December 14, 1940 to Orville “Tobe” and Vivian (Walters) Wilson. She was a 1958 graduate of Fairland, OK High School. She had lived in Carl Junction since 2016, moving from Grand Lake.
Lavern had worked as a pharmacy technician for Walker Drug in Baxter Springs, KS. She and her husband Dewayne owned and operated Dardene’s Five Mile for over 20 years, Spring River Inn and Riverton Quick Stop in Riverton, KS, Crown Video in Joplin and Neosho, MO and KMO Video in Pittsburg, KS. Lavern was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Joplin, MO and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Galena, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sherry Sample.
Lavern is survived by her husband Dewayne Treece of the home, 1 son, Joe Treece and his wife Alysia of Rogers, AR, 1 daughter, Kay Fleming and her husband Mike of Pittsburg, KS, 4 grandchildren, Kassie McDaniel, Kendra Graham, Luke Treece and Adam Treece and 5 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Milligan, Dalton McDaniel, Rilynn Milligan, Blayke McDaniel and Allie Milligan.
Private services will be held. Lavern will lie in state Tuesday, June 2, 2020 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, OK for family and friends to pay their respects and sign the register book.
