Lula Bell Smith, 78, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at her home in Carthage. Lula Bell was born October 3, 1941 in Whittington, IL to Herbert Aaron and Pearly Mae “Holman” McCann. She had been a resident of Carthage since 1962, a homemaker, and an employee of Long John Silvers in Carthage. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Carthage.
Lula Bell was united in marriage to Marion Smith on March 3, 1962 in Benton, IL; he survives.
Lula Bell is also survived by three sons, Daniel Smith (Deon) of Fidelity, MO, Robert Smith (Melissa) of Billings, MO and Charles Smith (Kayleen) of Neosho, MO; one daughter, Linda Smith of Joplin; one sister, Margaret Grimes of Pittsburg, PA; 13 grandchildren, Wendell, James, Daniel, Matthew, Michelle, Emily, Jacob, Timothy, Christopher, Megan, Marshal, Monika and Myles, along with eight great grandchildren.
Lula Bell was preceded in death by one brother, Aaron McCann; three sisters, Lova King, Christina Cockrum and Juanita McCann.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Jasper School Cemetery east of Carthage (County Road 80 and Elm Road).
