Danny D. Baker, age 79 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Saturday August 1, 2020 following a decline in health. He was born April 15, 1941 in Joplin, Missouri to Jesse and Effie (Jernigan) Baker.
Danny was a lifelong area resident. He worked as a machinist for Vickers and later was an independent source inspector. He served in the United States Army. Danny loved spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on the river, and he had been very involved with Scouting. He was a member of College Heights Christian Church.
He was married to Marcia for 55 years and she survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Todd Baker (Kathy), Joplin, Missouri, Shannon Baker (Ronda), Carthage, Missouri; one daughter, Kimberly Bruyere (Jeff), Rogers, Arkansas; one brother, Dr. Dick Baker; 11 grandchildren, Breanna Alford (Zach), Molly Greer (Garrett), Maggie Baker, Zoe Baker, Jacob Bruyere, Jonah Bruyere, Joshua Bruyere, Zachary Barlett (Sydney), Morgan Baker, Emma Baker, and Jocee Baker; three great grandchildren, Asher Barlett, Brettly Baker, and Jack Greer.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday August 5, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Oronogo, Missouri (10040 County Road 230) with Pastor Darin Youngberg officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Ozark Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
