Pam Petty

(From Parker Mortuary)

Pamela Jean Petty, 65, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away early Thursday morning, July 30, 2020, in the comfort of her home.

Pam was born January 23, 1955, in Webb City, Missouri, to the union of the late Otis and Zula Mae (Laster) Points. She was a 1973 graduate of Memorial High School in Joplin.

Following high school, Pam furthered her education and received an Associate’s in Business Administration from Missouri Southern State College. She worked in the customer service department at CFI in Joplin, retiring in 2019.

Pam always loved being outdoors, whether she was on the boat or spending time around the campfire. She was a loving wife, mother and aunt and always looked forward to time spent with her family. Pam owned stock cars and enjoyed watching the races – an activity that fulfilled her thrill and love of winning. Pam was a planner, always considerate of others, a positive light in a dark world and a natural leader in all things. Above all, she loved her three dogs, Zoe, Chloe and Boomer, and they were truly one of the best parts of her life.

On October 15, 1971, Pam was united in marriage to her lifetime sweetheart, Steven Petty, and together they shared the last 48 years. Their son, Steven Petty, II, also survives.

Additional survivors include several brothers and sisters; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family extends a very special thanks to Pam’s racecar driver, Brady Hutchison, for his constant devotion to Pam and her happiness. His support always extended far beyond the racetrack and that is something her family will always be thankful for.

Memorial visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2020, at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. A private committal of ashes will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation in honor of Pam’s courageous fight.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
