George Chenoweth

Mr. George Emery Chenoweth, 97, of Webb City, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, September 21, 2020, at Webb City Health and Rehab after a recent decline in health.

George entered this life on January 25, 1923, in Carthage, Missouri, born to the union of the late Conway and Anna (Bueler) Chenoweth. He was raised in the Lakeside Community near Carterville, Missouri and was a graduate of Carterville High School. He furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri. 

George served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps during WW-II as a Fighter Pilot. He resided nearly thirty years in the Denver area and was employed by Chevron Oil as a chemical engineer, retiring in 1985. In 2014, he returned to Webb City to be closer to his family. He enjoyed photography and hiking the Rocky Mountains.








He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Milton Chenoweth; and two sisters, Jackie Cruzan and Betty Brooner.

George is survived by his three children, Terry Chenoweth and wife, Debra, of Webb City, Susan Hunter and husband, Bill, also of Webb City and Robert Chenoweth of Nevada, Missouri; eight grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services with full military honors are 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City with Pastor Marilyn O’Brien officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.
