Glenn York

Glenn York, 86, of Joplin, passed away September 16, 2020.

Glenn was born March 11, 1934, in Jasper, Missouri, to the union of the late Hugh and Faye (Bird) York. He was a 1952 graduate of Golden City High School.

On May 20, 1956, Glenn was united in marriage to Mary Lou Fanning and together they had two daughters. Glenn was a career machinist and worked in small precision tooling. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. 








Glenn was a member of the Joplin Senior Center where he often played pool and participated in fieldtrips. He also volunteered as a driver for Joplin Association for the Blind. Glenn was a faithful member of South Joplin Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Dean York, Wayne York and Bonnie Fanning; and two brothers-in-law, Bill James and Bud Fanning.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Lou York; two daughters, Patty Moss (Mike) of Carl Junction and Alicia Childers of Seneca; five grandchildren, Rob Moss (Brandie), Ryan Moss (Allie), Art Sprouse (Katie), Caleb Childers and Cody Childers; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold York; sisters-in-law, Wanda York, Mildred York, Juanita James and Lena Mae Fanning; brother-in-law, Gene Fanning (Sue); numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
