Joan Harner

Joan Virginia Harner, 84, Seneca, Missouri formerly of Southwest City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Freeman West hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

She was born on August 21, 1936 in Southwest City, Missouri, born to the late, Eual Clay and Susan Marie (Perry) Smith. She was united in marriage to C.A. Harnar on December 29, 1956 in Southwest City, Missouri. Joan was former secretary for the Southwest City School. Joan really enjoyed crocheting, doll making and loved family gatherings. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Southwest, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Norma Jane Blecha and a brother, Eual Edward “Bud” Smith.








Joan is survived by her two daughters, April Randall and Rhonda Barth, both of Southwest City, Missouri; a brother James P. Smith and wife, Molly of Joplin, Missouri; three grandchildren, Josh, Janae, Jonisha; four great grandchildren, Ricardo, Cristofer, Laura, and Alexia; as well as a host of other family and friends who will dearly miss Joan.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City, Missouri. Brother JR Morgan will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to service time on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Southwest City Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home.
