Alvin Bennett

Mr. Alvin T. Bennett, Jr, 76 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma departed this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021 after an illness.

JR was born November 15, 1944 in Wichita, KS to the late Alvin T. and Alice (Clark) Bennett. JR grew up in Wichita before serving his country in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. 

While in the U.S. Army and stationed in Bangkok, Thailand, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Medal and Good Conduct Medal. 








On December 30, 1967 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean (Drake) Bennett at Poynor Baptist Church, Southwest City, MO. JR and Carolyn moved to Noel, MO where they raised their two boys, Chris and Cody. 

Later in life he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs, AR and had accepted Christ as his Savior in his teenage years. JR was for a time a member of the Noel Volunteer Fire Department. In 2014 after the 2010 death of Carolyn, he moved to Bartlesville, OK with his oldest son Chris and family. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and mowing.

JR was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carolyn on April 12, 2010.

JR is survived by two sons; Chris Bennett and wife, Pamela of Bartlesville, OK, Cody Bennett and wife Heather of Springdale, AR. Grandchildren; Jason and Janet Hardy of Bartlesville, OK, Evan and Christin Janeway of Oklahoma City, OK and Carter, Conrad and Clara Bennett of Springdale, AR, two great grandchildren; Jett and Jax Hardy, three brothers; Andy Bennett and wife Diane of Rogers, AR, Ray Bennett and wife Gwen of Anderson, MO, Jimmie Bennett of Xenia, OH and a sister; Nancy Abercrombie and husband Tommy of Noel, MO as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Alvin T. Bennett, Jr. will be held Friday, September 10th at 10:00 a.m. in the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Pastors John Hile and Gairy Osburn officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Southwest City Cemetery, Southwest City, MO. 

Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are; Cody Bennett, Jason Hardy, Evan Janeway, Robert Drake, Ryan Drake, Rick Drake and Allen Drake. Conrad Bennett will serve as an honorary pallbearer. 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 9th at the funeral home. In lieu of the flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer society or Mary Martha Outreach in Bartlesville, OK in care of the funeral home.
