Denny Frieze

Denny Frieze passed away Thursday evening, September 2, 2021, at Joplin Mercy Hospital ER. He was born July 31,1946, to Carl and Hazel (Shouse) Frieze. He grew up in Ash Grove, Missouri and worked several jobs while in high school.

On October 28, 1967, Denny married Anita Wolfe at the First Christian Church in Greenfield. They moved to Joplin in 1975. 










The family enjoyed camping and boating each summer. Denny retired, after 40 years with Empire District Electric Company, as Senior Manager of Substation Operations and Management. Over the years he enjoyed many friendships and after retirement, often met fellow retirees for lunch twice a week.

Denny and Anita enjoyed traveling after their retirement. He was looking forward to another Mississippi River cruise in October. Denny always enjoyed playing golf with the guys at the Lockwood Golf Course.

Denny was a wood worker who made furniture and gifts for family and friends. He was a member of the Stateline Woodturners in Springdale, Arkansas.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hazel Frieze; brother, Jim Frieze; and Anita’s parents, Don and Agnes Wolfe. He is survived by his wife, Anita; daughter, Susan Frieze and FiancĂ© Jim Burnside; daughter, Sarah and husband Carl Loughery; sisters-in law, Martha Lou Frieze, Janet and Lyle Burns, LaDonna Wolfe; brother-in-law, Robert and Colleen Wolfe; niece, Carla and Randell Wallace and family; nephew, Roger and Jenny Frieze and family; niece, Amy Wolfe; nephew, Gregg and Kim Burns and family; niece, Joy and Perry Finley and family.

A memorial service is scheduled at South Joplin Christian Church on September 7, 2021, at 11 a.m. The family encourages wearing masks and social distancing. Memorial graveside services will be at Ash Grove Cemetery, Ash Grove, MO on September 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Joplin Christian Church at 1901 South Pearl, Joplin, MO 64804 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
