(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Betty Ilene Ryan, 85, of Quapaw, OK formally of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at higher Call Nursing Home, Quapaw, OK.
Betty was born on June 19, 1936 in Yuma, Colorado to the union of Orville and Florence (Roberts) Ping. She was united in marriage to Bill Rex Ryan on April 14, 1972 in Miami, OK. Bill preceded Betty in death on July 20, 1997.
Betty spent her life as a homemaker loving and caring for her family. Betty was an avid gardener and especially loved planting flowers. She enjoyed reading and working puzzles. For a time, Betty babysat not only her grandchildren but other area kids and formed life long relationships from that time. She found so much enjoyment being around all of those kids and being apart of their lives. She especially enjoyed following her grandchildren throughout all of their activities while they were growing up. She was even known to frequent concerts around the area with her family.
Betty is preceded in death by here parents, Orville and Florence Ping; husband, Bill Rex Ryan.
Betty is survived by two sons, Larry Qualls and wife Tracy of Baxter Springs, KS and Steven Qualls and wife Vicky of Hillsdale, KS; daughter, Susan Weaver of Duenweg, MO; brother, Duane Ping and wife Farell of Holiday Island, AR; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena, KS. Pastor Geoff Buffalo will officiate.
