Merlyn Votaw

Merlyn Votaw, age 82, Baxter Springs, KS. passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born February 2, 1939 in Lawrence, Kansas to the late Milo Votaw and Angie Vitt Votaw. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lyle, Ivan, Leslie Votaw. 

He is survived by one sister, Darlene Naff, Lawrence, KS.








Merlyn served in the U.S. Army and the Airforce reserves. Following his military service, he worked as a maintenance mechanic.

He married Justine Canfield on March 9, 2005 she survives in the home. 

Additional survivors include, two sons, Tim Votaw and wife, Trish, Lawrence, KS, Eric Votaw and wife, Nancy, Goodyear, AZ; two stepsons, Gary Boothe and wife Tracy, and Ronald Boothe and wife, Amber, both of West Virginia; two daughters, Roxanne Votaw, Minnesota, and Rochelle Medina and wife, Liz, Weldon, CA; stepdaughter, Holly Boothe, Joplin; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Baxter Springs 1st Assembly of God Church. Pastor Steve Bell will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home Baxter Chapel.
