LaVeta Dorman

LaVeta Maxine Dorman, age 100 of Alvin, TX. passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 surrounded by her family.

LaVeta was born on November 3, 1920 in Carterville, MO., the daughter of Floyd Oliver and Eva Viola (Mooney) Kirk. 

She was a homemaker, spending her days loving and caring for her family. LaVeta was a long-time area resident before moving to Alvin nine years ago to be closer to family.








She married Duane E. Dorman in 1939, he preceded her in death in 1974. LaVeta was also preceded in death by her parents and by a grandson, Tracy “Bud” Dorman.

LaVeta is survived by her son; Stan Dorman and wife Barbara of Alvin, her sister; LaReah Kirk of Joplin, MO., a granddaughter; Melissa Ramsey and husband Matthew of Alvin, seven great-grandchildren; Stephanie Dorman, Kellie Harris, Emilie Lopez, Zachary Dorman, Hunter Ramsey, Nolan Ramsey, Kate-Lyn Ramsey, and six great-great-grandchildren; Becky Dorman, McKenzie Harris, William Harris, Robert Lopez, Michael Lopez and Wesley Lopez.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2021, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
