(From Knell Mortuary)Douglas Michael Allan, 70, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was a member of the Church of Christ where in years past he had been a Deacon and youth leader. He began his 44-year career with Leggett & Platt in Carthage, Missouri, also working in Mason, Ohio; Birmingham, Alabama; Tupelo, Mississippi and Simpsonville, Kentucky. He played football for Missouri State University. After retiring he volunteered with students at Wright Elementary and Ascension Academy. His hobbies included woodworking, going to the lake, and playing and coaching sports. Doug’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Elmer and Jeanie Stafford Allan.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Allan of Shelbyville; his son, Ryan Allan (Amy) of Shelbyville; his daughter, Lyndsay Magar (Jason) of Louisville; his five grandchildren, Perry Grace Allan, Abby Faith Allan, Tess Magar, Max Magar, and Corrine “Coco” Magar; his brothers, Timothy Allan (Sherry) of Carthage, Missouri, Steven Allan of Seattle, Washington, and Christopher “Skeeter” Allan (Melissa) of Carthage, Missouri; and many extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held 1 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage. As Doug was an organ donor recipient, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates, 10301 Linn Station Road, Louisville, KY 40223, or American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
