J.D. "Satch" Seller, age 70, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
J.D., son of the late Mike and Edna (Moore) Seller, was born on November 28, 1951, in Independence, KS. He grew up on a farm north of Tyro, KS and attended school at Wayside High School and graduated from Caney Valley High School in Kansas.
At the age of 16, J.D. knew the meaning of hard work and dedication by starting his own hay hauling business that he operated throughout high school. He then attended Pittsburg State University where he attained his bachelor’s in business administration and was a member of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration.
On February 4, 1978, he was united in marriage to his best friend Denise Marie Hager in Creve Coeur, MO. Together they enjoyed over 44 years of marriage and raising a family. J.D. was employed with Eagle Picher for 35 years before leaving for a ten-year employment with Medicalodges, and then returned to Eagle Picher as a consultant. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family, and was a passionate Boston Celtics fan.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Seller, of Joplin; two children, April Marie Horne, of Wichita Falls, TX, and James Michael Seller, of Joplin; two grandchildren, Wesley Keith Randall, and Isabella Marie Twombly; and one brother, Michael J. Seller, of Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Edna Seller.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday, November 22nd beginning at 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
