(From Clark Funeral Home)Lee R. Richards, a lifelong Newton County resident, entered into rest on November 22, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 94.
Lee was born May 8, 1928, in Newton County, one of seven children to Elza and Ethel (Hugoboom) Richards. He graduated from Diamond High School in 1947. In 1952, he entered the U.S. Air Force, where he was an aviation mechanic, and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Lee was a cattle and crop farmer during his lifetime. He enjoyed watching sports and westerns and being with his family. He attended the Granby Miracle Church in Granby.
On January 19, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas, Lee, and Carol (Buchanan) were united in marriage and had shared 70 years.
Lee is survived by his wife, Carol; two children, Pam Gibson and husband, Greg and Jeff Richards, all of Neosho; three grandchildren, Brandi Bogle and husband, Ryan, Jesse Richards, and Dylan Richards; three great-grandchildren, Conner, Braxton, and Dakota and a brother, Rusty Richards of Neosho.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Marian Hopper, Mildred McCracken, Bobbie Richards, and Ruth Ann Wilson, and one brother, Dale 'Pete' Richards.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 10 am at the Gibson Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Richards, Jesse Richards, Dylan Richards, Ryan Bogle, Randy Wilson, and Greg Gibson. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation, Friday evening, November 25, 2022, from 5:30 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
