(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Eva “Jo” Shrum, 91, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in Carthage, Missouri. Jo was born March 4, 1931, in Elkins, Arkansas to Tom M. Harrison and Lela Eubanks.
She was a longtime Carthage resident and had moved to Carthage from Northwest Arkansas at a young age. Jo was a member of Elm Road Church of Christ.
She took great pride in her penmanship and wrote numerous handwritten letters to family and friends. Jo loved to cook for her family, enjoyed scrapbooking, and gardening. She and her husband (Jack)always kept a big garden and was a spotless housekeeper.
Jo was united in marriage to Jack H. Shrum on August 31, 1953, in Huntsville, Arkansas; he preceded her in death on June 4, 2011.
Jo is survived by two sons, Morris Shrum and wife, Libby, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Mark Shrum and wife, Terrie, of Carthage, Missouri; two daughters, Lori Ball and husband, Danny, of Jasper, Missouri, and Jacklyn Highfield of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee; two sisters, Lois Austin of Lake Forest, California, and Betty Allison of Carthage, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Kelby, Randie, Keegan, Sasha, Leighton, McKenzie, Darryl and Carrie; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Jo is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Shrum; her parents, Tom and Lela Harrison; two brothers, William and James Earl Harrison; one sister, Marie Harrison; and a grandson, Mark Shrum, Jr. in June 2021.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage.
