(From Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home)Jimmie L. Kelsey, 93, of Chetopa, passed away at 2:25 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at his home.
Jimmie Louis Kelsey was born on May 25, 1929, to Carl Albert and Mariam (Frye) Kelsey in Chetopa, Kansas. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in rural Craig County, Oklahoma, graduating from Welch High School in 1947.
For several years, Jimmie farmed in Oklahoma, before moving to Falls City, Washington. While living in Washington, he worked for Weyerhouser Lumber and Safeway Stores Distribution Center. After 35 years, Jimmie returned to Oklahoma to farm again. In 2000, he moved back to Chetopa, where he had lived since.
In earlier years, Jimmie had attended the Baptist church. He enjoyed collecting rare coins and reading Western books. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his wife.
On May 21, 1948, Jimmie and Betty Jean Moore were united in marriage in Vinita, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

One daughter – Carla Willhight and her husband, Stan, of Coupeville, Washington
One brother – Jerry Kelsey and his wife, Geri, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma
Two sisters – Joy Bruce of Joplin, Missouri
Patty Yost of Vinita, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
No service is planned at this time. Cremation is under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa.
