(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)James Stewart Cusick was born August 1943. When he was around 3 years of age he lived with his family in Japan. It is during his stay there that he learns to eat with chopsticks.
A few years later they moved to the States where James as a young adult developed a love for cars. He drew them all his life.
In September of 1966, he met Elizabeth Anne Bailey. At the time they started dating Elizabeth worked at Keller’s barbeque and James worked at Rexall Drug Store. During the next six months they ate barbeques in the park when Elizabeth got off work. Her mother gave permission and they had bonfires where Nikki’s coffee would bring the beverages.
By December of 1966, James and Elizabeth married. He shortly after began a career with Allgeier Martin as an engineer, and was with the company for over 20 years. In 1990, Allgeier Martin began to downsize, and James had to move his family to Michigan where he worked for Detroit Edison.
In 1999, James and Elizabeth moved twice more. First, to the state of Texas, and then to Missouri. When his father passed away, James bought a house on Broken Arrow Lane in Joplin. Here, they became friends with their neighbors, Apolinar and Tiffany Guillen.
James and Apolinar spent time together fishing, and creating backyard barbeques, while their wives crocheted and worked the garden. James is survived by his spouse Elizabeth Cusick. His sister and her husband Marsha and Ronald Hall and their children and grandchildren, and all of the cousins.
There will be no service and the family requests that all donations be directed to the Warren’s Branch Church.
Another Angel has earned his wings. We will miss you, James.
