(From Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home)Charles (Chuck) Raymond Wooten, Sr. 95 of Springfield, Mo. passed away on June 20, 2023. He was born in Springfield, Mo. on July 14, 1927 to Margaret (Wood) and Elmer Wooten.
Chuck was a WWII Navy Veteran and a 26-year employee of USPS.
After his retirement he continued to serve the great state of Missouri as a Springfield City Councilman and a Missouri State Representative district 137 for 10 years.
While serving as State Representative he was successful in passing a bill to establish the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Springfield.
He continued his public service by serving on the Springfield Airport Board, Senior Age Board, and the Missouri Veterans Commission. He also enjoyed hosting a radio talk show on KWTO and playing with the Happy Plunkers Ukulele Band.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, brother Loren Wooten, sisters Betty Evans, Anna Lee Silkey and son Charles Raymond Wooten, Jr.
He is survived by his wife Joan; his three children Janet Sanfratello (Johnie) Terry Smith (Donnie), Mary Riley, and daughter-in-law, Carole Wooten; also 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery 5201 S. Southwood Road on Thursday June 29, 2023 at 10 am under the care of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
