(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Jack Arnold Compton, age 92, Lamar, MO passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Cox Barton County Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1930, in Springfield, MO. to the late Vernon Compton and Elizabeth Fuhr Compton.
Following high school, he joined the United States Army. Upon returning home he married Edith Hines on June 9, 1956 in Summersfield, MO. She preceded him in death June 16, 1992.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Don Compton.
He spent his life as a farmer in the Lamar, MO. area. He was a proud member of the 1st Christian Church, serving many offices and boards.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. He taught his daughters to hunt and fish. He enjoyed hearing his granddaughters’ stories of their deer hunts.

Jack had many hobbies throughout the years such as tying flies, photography, beekeeping, woodworking, and making key chains. Jack was always sharing his handy works with family and friends and loved to tell them stories.
Survivors include two daughters, Rachele Lord and Denise James and husband, Will; four granddaughters, Elise, Clarise, Cora and Veronica James; and two brothers, Carl and Gene Compton.
A Celebration of life will be Friday, June 30th at the First Christian Church Lamar Missouri at 1:30 p.m.
Burial will be in the Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, MO.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
Survivors include two daughters, Rachele Lord and Denise James and husband, Will; four granddaughters, Elise, Clarise, Cora and Veronica James; and two brothers, Carl and Gene Compton.
