(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Dean Samuel Replogle, 86, Carthage, MO passed away June 16, 2023, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO. Dean was born September 10, 1936, in Carthage, MO to Robert Replogle and Ruth (Linn) Replogle.
When Dean was old enough, he joined the National Guard and started his training to later join the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served his country and traveled around the world. Dean shared his many adventures and stories through the decades that followed.
His favorite pastime growing up and until he was 72 years old was skating. As Dean traveled the world, he visited and skated at many different rinks… on Guam and Casa Blanca, just to name a couple. Dean competed in speed skating and now his great grandchildren are continuing the tradition.
Dean married Patricia Ann Potter on December 31, 1959, where they started their 62-year marriage in Carthage, MO; she survives.
Dean was employed by Carthage Marble Stone Company, Steadley Wire, Columbian Elementary School, and then Big Smith, where he retired.
Dean is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Dennis Replogle of Carthage, MO; three daughters, Debra Griner (Greg) of Carthage, MO, Carla Cordaway (David) of Carthage, MO, and Deanna Smith of Springfield, MO; five grandchildren, Ben Riner (Kaitlin) of Carthage, MO, Dustin Riner (Kiele) of Pierce City, MO, TaRisha Riner of Carthage, MO, Brandon Laub (Madison) of Springfield, MO, and Nick Laub (Marie) of Springfield, MO; three great grandchildren, Brantley Riner, Gatelyn Riner, and Paizleigh Riner; two sisters, Doris Byrd of Joplin, MO and Joanne Long of Springfield, MO; and many nieces and nephew.
A special thank you to the Mercy Hospital staff that took care of Dean and the family while in the hospital, all the staff of Gentiva Hospice of Carthage, MO, and Kelly from Amediasys Home Health Care.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Replogle; two brothers, Robert Lynn Replogle and Glenn Replogle; and sister, Lorraine Buttermore.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Park Cemetery in Carthage, MO.
