Percilla Penner

Percilla Penner, of Joplin, Missouri, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at her home following a decline in health.

She was born November 25, 1945, in Enid, Oklahoma to Rufus and Grace (White) Mitchell.

While obtaining a B.S. in mathematics and a minor in psychology from Oklahoma State University, she taught mathematics at the college level.






She continued throughout her life to tutor people of all ages in math. She began her career at Cummins Engine Company in the Engineering Department and wrote computer programs for various institutions. She had many different interests and lived a life full of adventure. She was a pilot, scuba diver, and worldwide traveler. She was also a part of a pit crew that helped put a CFI truck on top of Pikes Peak. She was a member of Park Plaza Christian Church. One of her biggest loves was oil painting. She loved realism. She and a group of ladies founded Local Color Art Gallery in Joplin. She was a member of Spiva and of Oil Painters of America.

She married Charles Penner on January 22, 1967, in Enid, Oklahoma and he survives. Percilla is also survived by one daughter, Shelby Allen and husband Donny, Joplin, Missouri; one son, Adam Penner and wife Tasha, Matthews, North Carolina. She also has four grandchildren, Tyler Penner (Kelli), Lexus Allen-Fisher (Blake), Bentley Allen, and Colton Penner. She is also survived by many wonderful friends.








Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are, Adam Penner, Donny Allen, Tyler Penner, Colton Penner, Blake Fisher, and Justin Barnett.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Park Plaza Christian Church with Mark Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2023, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
