Clark Blackwell

Clark Vernon Blackwell, of Lockwood, MO, was born on March 16, 1938 in Sandborn, IN to Vernon and Martha Blackwell. He passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the age of 85 years and 3 months.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernon and Martha Blackwell; one sister, Jane Ann Blackwell; one brother, George Blackwell; his first wife, Ardella; and his son, Mark Blackwell.

Upon graduating from Sandborn High School in 1956, Clark married Ardella Branch and to this union two children were born; Mark Blackwell and Gwen Anderson. He went to work at Miller Construction Company building power lines for 6 years. In 1963 he started up his own gas station and garage business in Sandborn.








Clark served in the Army Reserves 420 Engineer 5th Army for 8 years. He was stationed out of Ft. McCoy Wisconsin. While in Sandborn, he was President of the Sandborn Lyons Club and President of the Alumni Association.

Clark was a professional race car driver and circuit director for the United Drag Racers Association. He was awarded the United Drag Racers most Prestigious Award in 1973.

In 1983, he moved to Missouri opening a gas station, garage, and a car wash he ran for 37 years. While in the station, he later started a sanitation business which he operated for 26 years before selling out to his son-in-law. Clark also owned and operated a dog and cat kennel where he raised Registered Rottweiler Dogs and Himalayan Cats for many years. Clark married Beverly Litle Blackwell in 1989, and has two stepchildren, Alisha Moenning and Jade Casey.

Clark was a member of the Lockwood Christian Church, Lockwood Chamber of Commerce, and the Lockwood American Legion. He also served on the Lockwood City Council for 12 years. Clark and Beverly are on the board of governors and founding members of The Lockwood Community Foundation.








He is survived by his wife, Beverly Blackwell; his daughter, Gwen Anderson; stepdaughter, Alisha Moenning and son-in-law Jr.; step-son, Jade Casey; six grandchildren, Amy Delaney (Dan), Sandy Doolin (Ted), Adam Blackwell, Rajen Moenning (Joanne), Mickenzy Clemons (Haven), and Nevada Shriver (Taivin); thirteen great-grandchildren, Bentley Clemons, Cole Clemons, Huntleigh Moenning, Hayden Akers, Aspen Shriver, Alexa Stuffle, Rory Stuffle, Dean Stuffle, Emmett Delaney, Aileen Delaney, Brigit Delaney, Collum Delaney, and Finian Delaney; two brother, Roger Blackwell (Nancy) and Lynn Blackwell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, in Lockwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lockwood Christian Church. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
