Bill Riley

Bill Max Riley, 92, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 5, 2024, at his home. Bill was born January 14, 1932, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of the late Eddie Riley and Mamie (Dodson) Riley. He was a 1949 graduate of Carthage High School. Bill married Mary Brown on December 30, 1954; she preceded him in death on February 25, 2000. He then married Maydene (Ferguson) Russell on December 7, 2002; she preceded him in death on October 30, 2013.

Bill lived a life grounded in his unwavering faith in God, which guided him through every challenge and triumph. His love for his family was boundless; he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, creating countless memories filled with laughter, love, and adventure. He was a member of the Nazarene Church for many years.








As a licensed pilot, Bill soared through the skies, embracing the freedom and beauty of flight. His passion for aviation was only rivaled by his love for the open road as a MFA Oil truck driver, where he found joy in the journey and the stories of the places and people he encountered. Bill worked for MFA Oil for 38 years until his retirement.

Survivors include his granddaughter and care giver, Debbie Gourley; devoted stepson, Brian Wilson; stepson, Paul Wilson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, sister, and two stepchildren.
