Amanda Sharp

Amanda E. Sharp, age 35 of Joplin, Mo. gracefully succumbed to her battle with Cardiac Sarcoma on Friday, March 1, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Amanda was born on August 17, 1983 in Joplin, the daughter of Steve and Debbie Harris and Carla (Winch) Parker. Amanda has been a lifetime area resident, she graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a Bachelor’s Degree and later from Northwest Missouri State University with a Master’s Degree in Education. She started her teaching career in Seneca, then went on to teach third grade at Stapleton Elementary in Joplin. Amanda also was a cheer coach for many years. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Michael Jackson fan, and loved attending Members Only and Rosy Hips concerts.

Amanda’s smile and infectious positive energy lit up any room she walked into. Her kind spirit and loving soul will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known her.

She married Preston Sharp on July 23, 2005, he survives. Additional survivors include her parents, her daughter, Ava Sharp, three sons; Matthew, Ethan and Tristan Sharp, all of the home, her brother; Steven “Buddy” Harris of Henderson, Nv., two sisters; Jennifer Powers and husband Quenton of Webb City, Mo., Khandace Goumaz and husband Randy of Joplin, grandparents; Trudy Harris, Walt and Venicca McCauley, Charlotte Clemons and Karen Adkins, her nephews, Zander, Haydyn, Landon and Cristian, and many loving cousins and friends.

Amanda was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jim and Dora Fredricks, and paternal grandfather, David Harris.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Amanda Sharp Memorial Fund in care of the mortuary.

The family also requests any of Amanda’s former students that attend her visitation to please bring a picture of themselves to be placed on a board for “Amanda’s Kids”.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Saint Paul's Church in Joplin. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Doris Beshears

Doris Dean Beshears, 92 years, of Pineville, Missouri was called to heaven on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the Granby House in Granby, Missouri.

She was born on May 21, 1926 in Goodman, Missouri to the late Robert and Pearl (Howard) Wasson. She married the love of her life, Frank Beshears on August 27, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas and to this union two children were born. Doris and her husband owned the Beshears Service Station in Anderson, Missouri for 50 years; she also was a tax preparer for H&R Block in Grove, Oklahoma. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anderson, Missouri. Doris enjoyed knitting, fishing, traveling and was an avid reader. She really enjoyed watching NASCAR, her favorite driver was Rusty Wallace. Doris cherished all the time spent with her grandchildren and dearly loved them all.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Frank Beshears; her daughter, Teddy Kimble and three siblings, Maxine Ables, Bud Wasson and Horace Wasson.

She is survived by her son, David Beshears (Pat) of Pineville, Missouri; a son-in-law, James Kimble of Columbia, South Carolina; a sister, Carol Smith of Texas; three grandchildren, Veronica Jarvis of Anderson, Missouri, Lynn Mills (Ken) of Riverton, New Jersey, Brandon Beshears (Jaclyn Cargile) of Anderson, Missouri; six great grandchildren, Lindsay, Megan and Tyler Mills of New Jersey, Nick Jarvis of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kennedy Beshears of Pittsburg, Kansas, Hunter Beshears (Jessi) of Anderson, Missouri; two great great grandchildren, Jacob Smyth and Dozer Beshears; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Doris.

A Memorial service for Doris will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Pastors Marilyn O'Brien and Nick VanDam will officiate. Final resting place will in the Mayfield Cemetery in Goodman, Missouri.

Raymond Jenkinson

Raymond Jenkinson, 91, of Girard, passed away at 12:53 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Medicalodge of Girard.

Raymond was born June 7, 1927 in Girard a son of Arthur and Emma (Wise) Jenkinson.
He attended school in Girard, graduating from the Girard High School.

On December 13, 1949, Raymond was united in marriage to Maxine Roseboom, she preceded him in death on October 27, 2015.

Raymond was a member of the United Chapel Church and a former member of the Crawford Township Rural Fire Department.

He retired from McNally’s of Pittsburg and continued to farm and raise cattle.

He enjoyed his family, playing cards and working puzzles.

Survivors include one son; Eldon J. Jenkinson of Wichita, Kansas, two daughters; Debra Clark and her husband David of Girard, Mary Sargent and her husband Clayton of Carthage, Missouri, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Raymond was preceded in death by two sons; Arthur J. Jenkinson and Gerald Lee Jenkinson, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Raymond Jenkinson will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Pastor Gaylord Demoure officiating. Burial will follow in the Girard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5 at the funeral home; friends are invited to call at the funeral home after 2:00 Wednesday.

Sylvia Shields

Sylvia Shields, 83, of Wichita, and a former resident of Erie and Parsons, died at

10:06 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She and her twin brother were born December 23, 1935, at Independence, to William Ivan and Jessie Mildred (Utz) Cain. Her mother died when she was nine years old and from the age of ten she was raised by her father and stepmother, Emma Powers Cain.

Sylvia attended Parsons schools and graduated from Parsons High School and Parsons Junior College. She and Everett Shields were married in Parsons on June 2, 1956. They moved to Erie in 1962 when he was transferred there by the Gas Service Co. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1995. She returned to Parsons briefly before moving to Wichita in 2010.

She enjoyed working with children and operated a daycare business in her home and also was a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and hand crafts. 

Surviving are a son, Brian Shields (Rhonda) of Joplin; a daughter, Janet Shields Breiner, of Wichita; four grandchildren, Lindsay Jervis (Ben) and their children Ava and Ellie, of Wichita, Cory Hageman, of Wichita, Jackson Shields, of Parsons and Abby Shields, of Joplin; her twin brother, William “Bill” Cain (Sue) of Lincoln, CA. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard “Rick” Shields and a grandson, Matthew Hageman.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons, with Jay St. Clair officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Grove Cemetery, west of Dennis. Laura Clary

Laura M. Clary, age 88, Joplin, passed away at 5:39 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Mercy Hospital after an illness.

Laura was born November 16, 1930 in Joplin to the late William V. Petty and Lindsey P. Smith Petty and had lived in Joplin all of her life.

Laura worked as a truck driver; longtime owner of a beauty salon; owner of a local cafe and several years in sales at Famous Barr. In her spare time, she enjoyed golf; playing pool; sewing; reading and making wine spritzers. Laura will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons; one daughter, her step daughter, Laurie Tandy, Joplin; best friend, Virginia Farris, Joplin; good friend, Gloria; and her fur baby, Bandy.

A memorial visitation is planned for Thursday from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Chet Enyart

Chester Enyart, age 92 passed away February 28th, 2019 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch after a long suffering with ALS.

Born in Baxter Springs, KS on January 9th, 1927 to Holly Enyart and Tiny Fulcher. Chet was raised during the Great Depression on the family’s self-sufficient farm. Attended Baxter Springs High School and played on the football team.

In 1945, Chet proudly served his country with the US Navy as a radio operator on the USS aircraft carrier Lunga Point during WWII. His combat experience included the China Sea, Okinawa and Saipan.

At 16, Chet begin a 43-year career with Frisco/Burlington Northern Railroad. As a train dispatcher, Chet’s radio call sign was “Hard Rock.” He retired as Chief Dispatcher.

Chet was married to Joline Conard of Miami, OK for 70 years. They raised their children in the Miami, Joplin and Springfield area. During retirement he resided in Englewood FL and Bella Vista AR. Chet was an avid golfer, played cards, danced and enjoyed Big Band music. Chet and Joline were members of the Elks Club and the Presbyterian Church.

Chester leaves behind three daughters: Linda Sadler (Rick) of Carl Junction, MO; Dee Ann Matthews (Charles) of Columbia, MO; Terri Conner (Jerry) of Shawnee, KS. Six grandchildren: Sean Sadler (Amy), Jill Fisher (David), Jessica Phipps (Darrell) and Shelby, Riley and William Conner. Great grandchildren: Austin Fisher (Brin); Audrey Fisher; Skylar Sadler; Rebecca, Timothy, Ezekiel Phipps and Gracie Sadler. One great-great grandchild: Jett Sadler.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joline in 2017, by all four siblings, their spouses, plus his only son Gerald, and great grandson Caleb Phipps.

Chet like his grandfather, Richard Simpson Enyart, was a good citizen, hard working, good to his family and square with his fellow man.

Visitation is 6 to 8 pm Tuesday March 5th at Parker Mortuary, Joplin MO.

Graveside service is 1:00 pm Wednesday March 6th, Rock Prairie cemetery, Halltown Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in honor of Chester Enyart to the Paralyzed Veterans 4801 Linwood Blvd M1-566 Kansas City, MO 64128 or the ALS Association Mid-America Chapter 2209 Petrus Circle, Ozark, MO 65721. Their wonderful support eased Chet’s and his family’s difficult journey. Also, many thanks to Three Rivers Hospice for all their loving care.

Loris Crossley

Loris S. Crossley, age 82 of Joplin, Mo. passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Loris was born on January 19, 1937 in Peel, Ar., the daughter of Francis J. and Bessie (Trenary) Nations. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide for The Greenbriar Nursing Home for many years before retiring in 2002. Loris loved to dance and researching her ancestry and genealogy.

She married Nelson Crossley, he preceded her in death in 2007. Loris was also preceded by her daughters, Lisa Mitchell and Debbie Crossley, and two sisters. Survivors include her significant other; Don McLaughlin of Joplin, a grandson; Curtis Mitchell and wife Brenda of Joplin, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
