Barbara Bowman

Barbara Lucille Bowman, age 76, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Spring River Christian Village.

Barbara was born May 28, 1944 in Cassville, Missouri, daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy Cole. She grew up in Thomas Hollow (McDonald County), and attended Rocky Comfort Schools. She worked as bookkeeper for several companies during her adult life in the Joplin area. She and her husband Bill were active in the Joplin Chapter of Al-Anon.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William G. Bowman, who passed away on August 8, 2019, a son, Damon Bowman; a brother, Allen Cole, and a sister, Janet Withers. 

Survivors include her son, James Bowman and wife Sandra of Joplin; grandchildren, Ashley Bowman, Chris Bowman, William Bowman, Abbey Smith, Lauren Buchanan (Hana), Jeffery Bowman (Lauren), Matthew Bowman, and Lindsey Bowman; great-grandchildren, Ezra, Lillie, Cameron, and Aaliyah; brother, Dick Cole (Carol); sisters, Donna Johnson (Jack), and Cathy Baker all of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Pat Rhodes

Frances “Pat” M. Rhodes, age 91, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.

Pat, the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Miller) Newton, was born on August 14, 1928 in the Atlas Community east of Joplin. She was life long resident of the area and a member of Villa Heights Christian Church. In 1946 she was united in marriage to Charley Rhodes, he preceded her in death. 

Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Towne, of Chanute, KS; three grandchildren, Andrew Towne, of Torington, NY, Al Shavazz, and Melissa Shavazz. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Charles, three brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 10:30 am at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at the Sterling Cemetery in Atlas, MO.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory, Joplin.

James Fullerton

James Fullerton was born December 31, 1934 in Jasper, MO, the son of Clyde and Fontella (Hansford) Fullerton. He entered into rest June 26, 2020 in Louisburg, KS at the age of 85 years, five months, and 26 days. 

James proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a cattle farmer. 

James is survived by his niece, Tara Carotenuti and husband, James of Gladstone, MO; one great-niece, Courtney Carotenuti; one great-nephew, James Carotenuti, Jr; one great-great nephew, Jackson Shannon; one sister-in-law, Joy Fullerton; and a family friend, David Johnson of Pleasanton, KS. 

James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Thomas Fullerton and David Fullerton; and one nephew, Robert Fullerton.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO. Interment will follow at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donna MacMorran

Donna J. MacMorran, 63, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her home in Reeds, MO. Donna was born August 13, 1956 in Webb City, MO to Don E. and Hazel “Harner” Brown. She was a lifetime resident of Southwest Missouri and employed by Fred’s Frozen Foods.

Donna was united in marriage to William T. MacMorran on May 1, 1979 in Miami, OK; he survives. 

Donna is also survived by two sons, William Daniel MacMorran and James Randall MacMorran, both of Carthage; as well as one brother and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Keneth Pedro

Keneth F. Pedro, 52, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Keneth was born October 21, 1967 in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia, USA to Faustino Pedro and Daniela Hetiback. He has been a resident of La Russell, MO since 2011, was employed in Butterball’s lab for the past 15 years and attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage.

Keneth was united in marriage to Arlain Sami in La Russell, MO in March 2017; she survives. 

Keneth is also survived by four sons, Eukertino Pedro, Retiu Pedro, Artus Pedro and Daniel Pedro; one daughter, Yomalin Pedro; two brothers, John Pedro and Alphanso Pedro; six sisters, Josepha Pedro, Irene Pedro, Bonnie Pedro, Yobita Pedro, Yomina Pedro and Inosenta Pedro.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Harvey Cemetery, La Russell, MO. The time will be determined at a later date.

Harmon Landon

Mr. Harmon Orson Landon, 91, of Noel, Missouri departed this life on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette, Arkansas.

Harmon entered this life on July 25, 1928 in Tiff City, Missouri to the late William Charles and Ruby (Nutting) Landon. Harmon lived most of his life in the McDonald County area. He faithfully served his county in the United States Army from 1951 - 1956. 

On December 8, 1951 he was united in marriage to Margurette Rhoten in Eureka Springs, AR. Around 1959 he and Frank Boyd became partners and the Landon & Boyd Service Station became a popular place for years. He always raised cattle and spent many hours in the hay fields, always with his dog. Harmon touched many peoples lives and will always be greatly missed. 

Harmon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margurette, she passed on August 7, 2008 and a daughter-in-law Sherry Lynn Landon in 2018.

Harmon is survived by Two sons; Raymond and wife Betty of Noel, Missouri and Gerald Landon of Grove, Oklahoma. Four grandchildren and nine great Grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Private graveside services for Mr. Harmon Landon will be held at a later date. Services are under the care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Missouri.

Joyce Lynch

Gloria “Joyce” Lynch lost her battle with cancer on June 23, 2020.

She was born December 8, 1930 to J.D. Mitchell and Beulah Hammontree in Lyford, Texas.

She married Harold F. Lynch on April 3, 1964. Joyce spent 36 years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Texas and Joplin. 

She is survived by her daughter Jonalee Gordon; 2 grandsons – Douglas and Cindy Reniker and Bryan & Laura Reniker; 3 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; 2 stepsons – Curtiss D. Lynch and Linda and Richard A. Lynch; 2 granddaughters, 5 great grandchildren.

Joyce was a caring lady with a wicked sense of humor and a sassy smile. She will be missed by many friends and family.
