Donald Lee Miller, 10 month old infant son of Levi and Destiny Miller passed away at 3:46 pm, Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Columbus, KS.

Donald was born January 14, 2022 at Kansas City Missouri. He is survived by his father, Charles Levi Miller; his mother, Destiny Rochelle (McFarland) Miller, one brother, Noble Chance McFarland, all of Columbus; Maternal grandparents, Robert and Sarah McFarland, Pittsburg, KS; Paternal grandparents, Charles Howard Miller, Kansas City, MO and Buel Dell Duree (Jeannie Marie), Carl Junction, MO; Maternal great-grandparents, Richard Northcutt, Kansas City, MO and Terri Northcutt, Galena, KS.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 5, 2022 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Pastor Ben Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.

Floyd Cooper

Floyd Frederick Cooper, of Dadeville, MO, departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, in his home at the age of 84.

Private family services will be held at the Dadeville Masonic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Hospice Compassus, or to the Wounded Warrior Project. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.

Susanne Dainty

Susanne Karen Dainty, age 57, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at her home.

Susanne, daughter of the late Cleo and Gertraud (Neitzel) Dainty, was born on February 3, 1965, at the Holloman Air Force Base in Otero County, New Mexico. 

Being a daughter in a military family, Susanne relocated to several different cities before settling in Rolla, MO where she graduated High School. She then attended the University of Missouri, Columbia for nursing school. She moved to the Joplin area in 2012 to make her home. She was currently employed as a medical coder with Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

 

Susanne enjoyed bead work, crocheting, and reading books of Sherlock Holmes. She loved animals; dogs, cats, birds, always had a place in her heart. 

Never having children of her own, Susanne was a devoted sister and aunt to her family. She was humorous and will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Survivors include her brothers, Steven K. Dainty, of Columbia, MO, Patrick James Dainty, and his wife, Patty, of Broken Arrow, OK, and Michael A. Dainty, and his wife, Janene, of Collinsville, OK; nephew, Chad Dainty, and his wife, Kaili, of Jenks, OK, and their children, Adyson and Logan Dainty; her beloved dog, Sanzo; and many other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with private burial at Osborne Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.

James Widener

James Arthur Widener, 79, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Tulsa, OK. James was born on July 17, 1943 in Parsons, KS to Helga Jane Anderson and James Eyma Widener.

James grew up around Carthage, Missouri around the grand river. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965. 

James enjoyed fishing, boating, watching his OU Sooners Football games and spending time with his kids and many grand kids. He also liked to build birdhouses out of old boots and spend time tinkering in his shop. In 1988 he started working at Baker Oil Tools and Retired in 2005 as a Machinist.

James is preceded in death by his father James Eyma Widener; Mother Helga Jane Widener; Brother George Michael Widener; and his daughter Cheryl Murray.

He is survived by his wife June Widener of the home in Jay, OK; Son Jeff and husband Casey Widener of Jay, OK; Son Jason and wife Kelli Beaver of Locust Grove, OK; Daughter Malissa and husband Shane Caleen of Tonganoxie, KS; Son James and wife DeAnn Widener of Junction City, KS; Son Brian and wife Darci Widener of Independence, MO; Son Tommy Murray of Coweta, OK; and Daughter Elain of Coweta, OK; sisters, Linda Capps of Seneca, MO and Peggy Hall of Joplin, MO; James had many grandkids and great-grandkids that he loved dearly; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

James’s family will have a Private Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date.

Garry Beauford

Garry Blaine Beauford, age 77, of Joplin, MO passed away on November 30, 2022 surrounded by family after a long illness. He was born on May 13, 1945 in Eddy County, NM to J.C. and Leona Marie (Testerman) Beauford. He lived most of his life in southwest MO. He attended the school for the deaf.

Garry is survived by 3 nephews, Craig (Mishelle) Hill, Neosho; Kelly Blaine (Melissa) Hill, Neosho; Casey Hill, Granby; a stepdaughter, Dawna (Tim) Gadberry, Grove, OK; a stepson, Richard Jackson, Lancaster, PA,; and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Patterson.

David Vandiver

David Nelson Vandiver, age 72, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

David, son of the late Robert and May Marie (Morgan) Vandiver, was born on May 18, 1950, in Joplin. He grew up and attended school in Lakeside, MO and graduated from Carterville High School. 

David enlisted in the United States Navy immediately after graduation where he served his country honorably. He then returned to Joplin and became an over the road truck driver. He was previously married to Nancy Day from 1970 until 1987, to this union two sons were born, David and Robert. 

He was then united in marriage to Louise Wigent on August 13, 1994, in Joplin. Together they enjoyed being a driving team and traveling all over the country. 

David was a quick-witted, fun-loving husband, dad, and friend. He enjoyed the outdoors and everything it had to offer hunting, boating, fishing, to scuba diving, and even attaining his pilot’s license. He enjoyed the harmonica and played often. David was a proud NRA member, member of the Joplin Elks Lodge #501, and a faithful member of the Park Plaza Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Vandiver, of Joplin; two sons, David Vandiver, and his wife, Kim, of Joplin, and Robert Vandiver, and his wife, Molli, of Baxter Springs; his sisters, Bobbie Vandiver, of Webb City, Pat Stinman, of Springfield, and Mary Foster, of Neosho; his brothers, Mark Vandiver, of Webb City, and Bill Vandiver, of Joplin; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will hold Memorial Services on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Park Plaza Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joplin Elks Lodge #501, Christmas Basket Fund at 1802 W 26th St, Joplin, MO 64804-1514.

Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.

Greg Wilson

Mr. Gregory Lance “Pork Chop” Wilson, 52, of Neosho, Missouri, departed this life on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his residence.

Greg entered this life on June 3, 1970, in Neosho, Missouri, born to the union of Calvin Wilson and Terri Slagle. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of McDonald County High School. 

For the last several years, Greg has worked for Tyson’s in Noel, Missouri, in their maintenance division. He loved his dog, Ariel, NASCAR, dirt track racing as well as his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Terri Slagle Burns; and two brothers, James Ray and Richard Burns.

 

Greg is survived by his father, Calvin Wilson and wife, Debbie, of Goodman; his stepfather, Danny Burns of Anderson; two sisters, Amanda O’Hearon (Shane) of Anderson and Dana Cornwell (Troy) of Goodman; six brothers, Mark Shelton (Jamie) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Jamey Shelton of Springfield, Brandon Burns of Anderson, Dennis Ray (Robin) of McRae, Arkansas, Shaun Crisp (Teresa) of Goodman and Richard Gant (Taylor) of Rogers, Arkansas; as well as a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
