(From Lawson's Funeral Home)James Arthur Widener, 79, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 in Tulsa, OK. James was born on July 17, 1943 in Parsons, KS to Helga Jane Anderson and James Eyma Widener.
James grew up around Carthage, Missouri around the grand river. He served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965.
James enjoyed fishing, boating, watching his OU Sooners Football games and spending time with his kids and many grand kids. He also liked to build birdhouses out of old boots and spend time tinkering in his shop. In 1988 he started working at Baker Oil Tools and Retired in 2005 as a Machinist.
James is preceded in death by his father James Eyma Widener; Mother Helga Jane Widener; Brother George Michael Widener; and his daughter Cheryl Murray.
He is survived by his wife June Widener of the home in Jay, OK; Son Jeff and husband Casey Widener of Jay, OK; Son Jason and wife Kelli Beaver of Locust Grove, OK; Daughter Malissa and husband Shane Caleen of Tonganoxie, KS; Son James and wife DeAnn Widener of Junction City, KS; Son Brian and wife Darci Widener of Independence, MO; Son Tommy Murray of Coweta, OK; and Daughter Elain of Coweta, OK; sisters, Linda Capps of Seneca, MO and Peggy Hall of Joplin, MO; James had many grandkids and great-grandkids that he loved dearly; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
James’s family will have a Private Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
