(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)Heaven welcomed an Angel on Christmas Day. Ruth Marie McGinnis of Joplin, Missouri, passed away after a short illness at Freeman Hospital Joplin at the age of 90.
Ruth was born to Fred Stevens and Jesse (Tando) Stevens on March 1st, 1932, in Joplin, MO.
She married, Carl Gene McGinnis, on August 6th, 1948 in Joplin MO where they were lifetime residents.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Ray Muncy, CO; three sons, Stephen McGinnis, Kansas City, MO, Everett McGinnis, Diamond, MO, and Bobby McGinnis, Joplin, MO; adopted daughter Nancy McGinnis, Joplin, MO; and two grandsons; Michael Cook, Carterville, MO, and Marcus McGinnis, Diamond, MO.
Ruth was a homemaker caring for her late husband and children. She enjoyed spending her time sewing and making dolls. You could often find her visiting friends and passing out candy at Autumn Place Assisted Living, where she was a resident the past 6 years.
Ruthie Marie, as known by most, will be remembered for her generosity, ornery personality, and strong spirit. She loved a good bargain and making deals. Ruth especially enjoyed her trips to the store with her granddaughter, Michelle Harrington. This world was so blessed to have had Ruth in it for 90 wonderful years.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Cook of Carterville, MO; son, Terry McGinnis of Diamond, MO; 9 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great, Great Grandchildren.
Private committal prayers and burial will be held at Ozark Cemetery in Joplin, MO at a later date.
