Elaine Brumit

Gwyneth Elaine Chancellor Brumit was born on January 9, 1935. She passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age 87. Elaine attended Neosho schools and graduated in 1953. She then attended Western Union School in Oklahoma City, OK. 

After graduation, Elaine began her 20-year career as a Western Union Operator in the states of Kansas and New Mexico. After retiring from Western Union, Elaine worked as a Realtor for Century 21 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then at Sandia Lab, also in Albuquerque. 








In her later years Elaine returned to the Neosho/Joplin Missouri area. She worked at Franklin Technical School, Jim Bob’s Restaurant, and as a Home Health Caregiver. Elaine had a passion for classic country western music, western novels, and old western movies. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Elaine was the firstborn of four daughters to Mary Edith (Roberts) and Arthur Chancellor. She was preceded in death by James M. Brumit (divorced), her parents, and her brother-in-law Clyde Anderson. She is survived by her loving family, children Cynthia Steele, of Berkeley, California, and Bradley Brumit and wife Aimee, of Alba, MO; her three sisters Mary Anderson of Tyler, Texas; Nancy Adams and husband Don of Neosho, MO and Phyllis Chancellor, also of Neosho; four grandchildren Jesse, Titus, Luke, and Bethany Brumit of Alba, MO; and 3 nieces and 2 nephews.








Graveside services, in care of Clark Funeral Homes, will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, 19883 Jaguar Road, Neosho on Tuesday January 3rd at 3:30. A gathering will follow at the Neosho Event Center 214 E. Main Street, Neosho.

Contributions can be made in memory of Elaine’s love of animals to the Joplin Humane Society at 140 E. Emperor Lane, Joplin, MO 64801.
