(From Parker Mortuary)Michael Anthony Heitzman, age 62, Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Mercy of Joplin after a sudden illness.
Michael was born August 26, 1960 in Pomona, CA, son of the late Robert F. Heitzman and Patricia Ruth (West) Heitzman. He moved to Joplin as a child and attended Joplin Schools before graduating from Parkwood High School in 1979.
He served in the United States Navy before returning to Joplin where he worked for years with Contract Machine and Manufacturing as a machinist. He loved playing the guitar, and became a very talented musician. He also enjoyed drag racing and worked on several cars over the years. He was very close to his family, and loved spending time with all of them. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy (Jackson) Heitzman; son, Robert “Bobby” Heitzman (Ashley) also of Joplin; grandchildren, Abbey Heitzman, Ella Heitzman, Ann Marie Heitzman, Tryson Heitzman, and Chayse Heitzman; sisters, Kim Atwood (John) of Joplin, Debra Heitzman of Melbourne Beach, Florida; a brother, Dale Heitzman (Monque) of Owasso, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with a Celebration of Life for Michael to be held at a later date.
