Louise Waite

Louise Waite, age 98, of Joplin, MO, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022. Louise was born September 29, 1924, in Drumright, OK to the late Floyd and Mettie Kirk. She was a 1942 graduate of Perkins High School in Perkins, OK. After graduation she moved to Ponca City, OK and worked as a "Rosie the Riveter".

In 1946, she married John Waite in Winfield, KS and moved to Stillwater, OK where they bought a grocery store. 

Later, they moved to Tulsa, OK. She worked for the Tulsa School District as a secretary at Alcott, Springdale and Waite Phillips Elementary Schools. She retired in 1987 after 21 years of service and they moved to Salina, OK. There she was busy with her church, friends, Lions Club and American Legion. After John was needing more medical care they moved to Broken Arrow, OK where their son and family helped take care of him. After his death she moved to Joplin, MO to be closer to her daughter and family.

Louise is survived by her brother, Bill Kirk, of Morris, OK. Also, two children, Mike Waite and his wife Sally of Tulsa and Sandy and Scott Springer of Joplin, MO. Also, 6 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd Kirk. https://www.floralhaven.com
