Ronnie Greenway

Ronnie Roe Greenway, formerly of Nevada, was called to his heavenly home on December 26, 2022. Ronnie was born on August 31, 1944 to Alvin and Blanche (Hemphill) Greenway in McDowell, Missouri. Ronnie’s family moved to Verona, Missouri as a young boy where he met and grew up with the love of his life Kay McRoberts.

Ronnie was a star athlete at Verona High School where he excelled in Basketball and graduated in 1962.

Ronnie and Kay were united in marriage on October 19, 1963 and to this union two daughters were born, Melinda in 1967 and Donna in 1968.

Following graduation from Verona High School, Ronnie attended Drury College in Springfield, MO where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion in 1967.

Following graduation Ronnie entered the ministry in Sarcoxie, MO for almost three years followed by an area executive role with the Boy Scouts of America in Savannah, MO.

Ronnie, Kay, and family moved to Nevada, MO in 1972 where he began a long career as Chief Juvenile Officer for a four-county area of Southwest Missouri. Ronnie retired from the State of Missouri in the early 2000’s and worked part time in various roles around Nevada for several years.

Ronnie loved the outdoors and enjoyed many duck hunts with Judge Kelso and friends around the Marmaton River. Ronnie was also an avid fly fisherman and spent many relaxing hours tying his own flies and fishing with his brothers-in-law. He took great joy later in life taking his granddaughters to Roaring River where he spent many summer days teaching them how to fly fish.

Ronnie was a devoted Christian man of faith and served many years as an Elder leader of the First Christian Church of Nevada.

Ronnie and Kay have lived in Overland Park, KS for the last several years so they could be closer to family where they enjoyed attending their granddaughters school activities and sporting events.

Survivors of Ronnie include his wife Kay who resides at their home in Overland Park, KS, daughter Melinda Cripps and her husband, John of Kearney, MO, daughter, Donna Scotten and her husband Carl of Overland Park, KS, along with two granddaughters that were his pride and joy, Alaina Scotten, and Hannah Simeroth and her husband Jeff, all of Overland Park; and one sister, Beverly Allen and her husband, Phil of the Dallas area.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Spring River Cemetery in Verona, MO. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
