Jack Cook

Norman Jack Cook, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Jack was born December 23, 1932, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Loyd and Linda Riley Cook.

He attended Welch Public Schools and graduated Valedictorian of his class in 1950.








He married Mary Ann Pooler on December 21, 1958, and they were married 55 years at the time of her passing. Jack had a successful business, Jack Cook Floor Company, in Miami, Oklahoma, for many years.

One of his favorite things to do was meet the guys at the local coffee shop and solve all the world’s problems.

Jack was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, Mary Ann Cook, and a sister, Jean Elliott.

He is survived by his four children, Lynda Smith and her husband, Randy, of Anderson, Missouri, Sandy Schemahorn and her husband Allen, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, David Cook and his wife, Kim, of Union, Kentucky and Darren Cook and his wife, Missy, of Joplin, Missouri; one sister Carolyn Waller of Wichita, Kansas, and a nephew that lived with the family, Leland Elliott and his wife Marie of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tyler Smith and his wife CeCe and Kelsey Smith Bergen and her husband Bo, both of Rogers, Arkansas; Caleb Tinker and wife Jennifer of Rogers, Arkansas, Joshua and Jared Cook of Union, Kentucky and Brett and Brock Cook of Joplin, Missouri; six great great-grandchildren, Stella and Cora Smith, Evelyn Cook, Blakely Bergen, Madelyn Tinker and baby boy Bergen arriving in early January.








Jack had a kind heart and was very giving. He was a great dad and “Pap Pap” and will be missed by many. He taught his children to love each other, respect of others, to work hard and to be honest.

Graveside services are at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery, Southeast of Miami, Oklahoma, Pastor Dennis Bergen, officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to McDonald County School Foundation in care of the funeral home.
