William “Bill” Starkey II, age 86, of Joplin, Missouri passed away Tuesday December 13, 2022, at his home with family by his side.
Bill was born June 17, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri to William and Vera (Gmachl) Starkey.
Bill worked as a produce manager for many years most recently with Smitty’s, retiring in 2000. He was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Joseph Charity, WW II Memorial and was very patriotic. He was honored to having served in the United States Army. He attended Hornet Christian Church.
He married Norma Leeds on October 5, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri and she survives. He is also survived by one son, William H. Starkey III; one daughter, Laurie Alcorn; one sister, JoAnn Lesinski; three grandchildren, Sheila Dickerson, Michael Alcorn, and Julia Gomez; four great grandchildren, Tristan Dickerson, Garrett Dickerson, Luciana Gomez and Lilah Gomez, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday December 21, 2022, at the Hornet Christian Church with Butch Ward and William Starkey III officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory Joplin, Missouri.
