Sandy Smith

Sandra Faye Smith, cherished wife, mother, and grandmother entered into rest on December 16, 2022, at the age of 81 from complications of congestive heart failure. 

Sandy was born August 27, 1941, in Picher, Oklahoma, one of seven children to Russell R. and Fannie (Striplin) Morerod. She moved to the Neosho area in 1972. 

Sandy was a homemaker and later joined her husband as an owner/operator in the trucking industry. She was a cancer survivor and enjoyed being on the farm, but her most significant legacy is her family. She was a fiercely loyal and loving mother. 








Sandy and Benjamin R. Smith were united in marriage on October 29, 1956, in Meridian, Mississippi, and Ben survives her.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, Sandy is survived by three children, Mickey Champ and husband, Wes of Joplin, Ben Smith of Neosho and James Smith and wife, Linda of College Grove, Tennessee; one brother, David Morerod of Thousand Oakes, California; four sisters, Leah Marie VanVolkenburg and husband, Carl of Irving, Texas, Dona Walton of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Wanda Woodworth of Miami, Oklahoma and Betty Lawson and husband, Jim of Quapaw, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.

She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Leah Michelle Smith; daughter, Linda Jo Skaggs; her parents and one brother, Ellis Eugene Morerod.






 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation Wednesday evening, December 21, 2022, from 5:30 until 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Sandy may be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, Missouri, 64850.
