Bill Thompson

William “Bill” E. Thompson, Jr., 74, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in Carthage, Missouri. Bill was born November 6, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana to William E. Thompson, Sr. and Freda (Huxhold) Thompson. 

He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a Combat Engineer and was stationed for a time in South Korea. Bill worked for the Operators Union of California. 









He moved to Carthage, Missouri from Southern California in 1996 and worked for Penske for a time, then went to work for Leggett & Platt.

Bill was married to and friends with Roxanne Jensen for 49 years; she survives.

Bill is survived by Roxanne Jensen; three sons, William E. Thompson, III of Beaver Creek Township, Ohio, Philip Thompson of Carthage, Missouri, and Christopher Hague of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Laura Sue “Slates” Thompson of Carthage, Missouri; one brother, Russell Thompson of Yanceyville, North Carolina; one sister, Nancy Drewick of Tan Valley, Arizona; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill is preceded by his parents, William and Freda Thompson.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held 3:00 p.m., Tuesday December 20, 2022, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, Missouri 65804.
